It started with leftover beer. I hate that we buy “samplers” end up really liking most of it but there is usually one beer (curse you IPA) that s nearly undrinkable. So I wondered what I could do with a beer we couldn’t really get rid of. I decided I’d make bread with what was left in our growler, “English Brown Ale” from Sleepy Dog Brewery, we hadn’t finished it all and sadly this once beautiful beer was a bit flat. Into the bread it went. This recipe is so simple even I can use it.
Beer Bread

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup bread flour
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 (12-ounce) bottle beer
- 3 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- Mix the above in a large bowl. Then put into a greased loaf pan. Melt 3 tablespoons unsalted butter and pour over the top.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes until top is brown.
